It’s starting to work! Last year we started working the field at Mosquito Head, tilling it and seeding it with various grasses and wildflowers. It didn’t look like much for most of the year as everything was growing. But this year, we have some of the wildflowers and the grasses. Yay. Earlier we had a nice display of lupine, and now the shasta daisies are showing, with black-eyed susans and chickory coming on soon. White and pink yarrow dance around.
This week we planted some nice large spruce trees off the corner of the barn the owners of the field are building. Hopefully this grouping of spruce will begin to echo groupings across adjoining fields and up to the headland itself.
