I just finished this rug in the nick of time to take it to the Maine Fiber Arts Gallery in Topsham for the show of my rugs due to open on March 8 (Reception on Sunday, April 7).
Part of the process of finishing a rug is steaming it flat, which I do on the floor in the bedroom. Needless to say, I become interesting to the four-footed inhabitants of the house while I crawl around with an iron and wet towels.
I knew Emmett would most likely be in the picture, just off the corner, but Maggie was a foudroyant surprise.
I’ll get some better shots of this rug, which is based on fungi and lichen growing on decaying trees. I call it polypods. It’s my current favorite. A detail.
